Dear friend and my soul mate Tom Spangler strummed his last guitar chords here on this earth Thursday, July 21, 2011, surrounded and supported by loving family, friends and caregivers. Born in Norfolk Nebraska October 24, 1938, raised and attended school in Denver Colorado. He married his high school sweetheart, Sylvia on July 26, 1959. After graduating from Colorado School of Mines, they were blessed with the opportunity to work throughout the country from coast to coast where the beginnings of many friendships began. During this chapter of his life, he and Sylvia again were blessed with two beautiful children, Tommy and Tammy. Because of Tom’s gentle loving caring ways, lasting friendships exponentially flourished and grew. His dry quick wit was a gift for all and remained with him until his final breath. “To know him was to love him.” His relationship with his loving God, family, friends, pets and his love of music were many of his passions.
Tom joins his father, mother, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and other loved ones. Leaving behind his loving wife Sylvia, two children: Tom Spangler Jr. (Penny), Tammy Iriondo (Greg), four wonderful grandchildren: Joshua Iriondo, Sarah Spangler, Christopher Iriondo, Rebecca Spangler, sister: Vicky Woodcook, brother-in-law: Brian Dietz, “De-Niece” (Denise), “De-Nephew” (Michael), many loving cousins and cherished friends. Not to forget his buddy Hunter and his princess Amber.
A Celebration of Tom’s life will be held Saturday, July 30th at high noon, Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, 920 Tonaquint Drive, St. George, UT 84770, immediately followed by lunch and reminiscing at the Lexington, 850 South Bluff Street.
